CORPORATE ..ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS |
||||
With immense gratitude Rob Crickett International Ministries of USA, Finland and Australia, and African Kids Foundation of Melbourne, Australia, would like to acknowledge the invaluable pro bono help received in creating African Kids Foundation from the award-winning Melbourne-based law firm Blake Dawson. Over a one year period, Blake Dawson graciously held our hands and walked us through the minefield of concepts and paperwork with elegance, dexterity and a winning warmth. The lives of AIDS-generated orphans in Africa have been turned around because of Blake Dawson's best of the best standards, vision and capability. From us all, thank you. |

| The Silver Coin Charity |
Bring your bucket to any Westpac Bank in Australia and deposit your coins into the AKF account. Sonsoring The Children One little boy said to us, "Thank you very much. Your coins give me hope." As we thought about what he said, we recognized that it says it all. Our loose change gives him hope for a real future that he simply cannot pay for himself. But more than that. Hope also comes to him by simply knowing that there is someone out there who cares enough to use their coins for his sake. As insignificant as your loose change can seem to you, it can and will change lives for the better.

....ASUPPORTING WATOTO WAMUNGU |
|
| AKF has never wanted to develop unhealthy dependency by the Ugandan situation on Western aid. From the beginning AKF has had a policy to help in the development of business venture so that Watoto Wamungu can be self-sufficient. This policy supports our desire to teach the children how to stand and build on a good foundation. All western donations are considered to be a means to an end so that everyone in Watoto Wamungu is able to become free-standing, empowered and carrying vision for financial independence from foreign aid. | |
| When you want to make a donation to the African Kids Foundation program, Watoto Wamungu, to help us to gain that independence and avoid unhealthy dependence, please consider thefollowing examples in Program Development: | |
| — $500 to purchase educational resources; — $1,000 to purchase medical supplies; — $1,000 to purchase livestock and their stalls; — $1500 to purchase one acre of land (we currently need 50 acres); — $5,000 for a fish farm and other income-generating material; — $50,000 to purchase a bus; — A one-time gift for any purpose. |
|

....AABOUT AFRICAN KIDS FOUNDATION |
| African Kids Foundation has a Mission to give kids Christian love and to help them to develop as leaders who will love the needy and bring healthy and creative solutions to Africa and to the world. African Kids Foundation follows the famous Watoto style of community development in Uganda, in which four boys and four girls are housed with one mama who is their mama for life. A number of such houses form one village. A father figure, for life, stays each weekend. African Kids Foundation is incorporated in Melbourne, Australia, as a charitable, not-for-profit organisation for the purpose of providing Christian international relief and development with a special interest in AIDS-generated orphans. Donations, including child sponsorships, over $2 are tax-deductible in Australia. If paid to RCIM in the USA, there is the possibility of 501(c)3 tax relief. |
| African Kids Foundation board consists of Christian professionals with experience in the Justice Department, risk management, quality assurance development in health care organisations, individual and corporate insurance nationwide and internationally, substance abuse and medical health care, social work, marketing and business development. In 2006, AKF was incorporated—with heartfelt thanks for the pro bono help given by one of Australia’s leading law firms, Blake Dawson. |

....AAKF PARTNERING WITH WATOTO |
|
| It could be said that there are three styles of orphan care in Africa: | |
| 1. leave the children within supportive families; 2. bring the children into orphanages who cater for hundreds of children; and 3. build a village lifestyle on a plot of land and allocate one mama and papa to a ....handful ofchildren. |
|
| Kampala Pentecostal Church, under the pastoral management of Canadian pastors Gary and Marilyn Skinner, have developed the village model of child care and called it Watoto—the Kiswahili word for child. Clusters of eight houses, a school, church, administration and medical facilities form the village. Each house accommodates four boys and four girls of various ages, and one mama—herself a widow—a father figure comes in on weekends. In this way the children have their own mother and father for life. Each child is permitted to live on campus until the age of 21. The village model enables Watoto to build leaders for Africa’s future better than just the wholesale support of hundreds of orphans who can lack close parental care and attention to receiving a world class education and global consciousness. Although AKF is not church-based in Australia, four of the six AKF Board Members have extensive history with the Richmond Assembly Of God Church in Melbourne—one of the many Australian churches that are under the overall direction of Pastor Brian Houston of the famous Hillsong Church in Sydney. Hillsong is in partnership with Kampala Pentecostal Church who provide Watoto Child Care Ministries in Uganda. They have contributed significantly in the Watoto international conferences and to women’s programs in Uganda. In 2008, AKF partnered with Watoto Child Care Ministries in Kampala in the replication of the Watoto model of orphanage in the BMC partnership. After discussions in Kampala with Watoto’s CEO, Alan Penry, it was arranged for one of Watoto’s senior village mamas to visit for two weeks to impart to the BMC widows and children the Watoto vision. The daily visits completed just before Christmas 2008 were a significant contribution to the initial steps of transforming the existing BMC population into a professional, transparent and capable Christian child care ministry. AKF looks forward to further projects with Watoto. As a result of connections made with members of Watoto Australia, AKF has been consulting Watoto within Australia. Additional contact has been made with the Watoto Trauma Program online at www.familychallenge.com.au and member of the Watoto trauma team from Canada. |
