With immense gratitude Rob Crickett International Ministries of USA, Finland and Australia, and African Kids Foundation of Melbourne, Australia, would like to acknowledge the invaluable pro bono help received in creating African Kids Foundation from the award-winning Melbourne-based law firm Blake Dawson. Over a one year period, Blake Dawson graciously held our hands and walked us through the minefield of concepts and paperwork with elegance, dexterity and a winning warmth. The lives of AIDS-generated orphans in Africa have been turned around because of Blake Dawson's best of the best standards, vision and capability. From us all, thank you. |

Donations to AKF for Property Development create buildings for homes, school and church for the orphans, school teacher homes, medical facilities, animal husbandry and farming, and micro enterprises. AKF believes that all donations are a means to an end. We want to not merely feed them fish, but teach them how to fish. It is a policy of AKF and MPC to avoid unhealthy dependence upon foreign aid, and to use donations wisely to create self sufficiency. |
|
| In making your donation to the African Kids Foundation program, please consider the following examples of property development costs: | |
— $1,000 to purchase educational resources and school uniforms; — $250,000 annual recurrent funding for five years; — $500,000 to underwrite the orphanage establishment with naming rights; |

African Kids Foundation has a Mission to work with you to give kids love, and to help them to develop as leaders who will love the needy, and bring healthy and creative solutions to Africa and to the world. African Kids Foundation board consists of professionals with experience in the Justice Department, risk management, quality assurance development in health care organisations, individual and corporate insurance nationwide and internationally, substance abuse and medical health care, social work, fundraising, marketing and business development. African Kids Foundation currently partners with a Ugandan non-government organisation, "My People Childcare", in the development of a Watoto-style village for AIDS-generated orphans and vulnerable children. The Watoto style of community houses four boys and four girls with one mama who is their mama for life. A number of such houses form one village. A father figure, for life, stays with them each weekend. |

HISTORY The President of AKF, Dr. Rob Crickett, had ministered in the wartorn north of Uganda, and he was preaching and ministering in other parts of Kampala when he met the board members of My People Childcare (MPC). It was a move of God. MPC is a registered non-government organisation providing spiritual, educational and childcare support for 50 children who have been orphaned or made vulnerable by AIDS. Members from both AKF and MPC attended conferences run by Watoto—the world famous christian child care group based in Kampala, Uganda. Watoto had called for Western pastors to partner with local pastors in the creation of new orphanages that are purpose built for leadership development. AKF and MPC seemed to be the perfect match. Rob brought MPC to the attention of the AKF Board as the group with whom to begin building the orphanage, and, in July, 2009, the partnership between African Kids Foundation and My People Childcare began. ENTEBBE AND MASAKA Many of the orphans had been abandoned to the street, or were living in squalid conditions after their parents had died from AIDS. No one was there to make them breakfast or to tuck them into bed at night. They had no bed, and no home. They lacked education, parenting, love and a childhood. Despite being very poor themselves, Grace and Rachael Lopeyok in Entebbe, and Grace's mother in Masaka, were moved to take them in. They trusted that their love would touch the hearts of others and God would somehow provide. GETTING BY TODAY The Watoto model is for clusters of eight houses, a school, church, administration and medical facilities to form a village. Each house accommodates four boys and four girls of various ages, and one mama—herself a widow—a father figure visits each weekend day. In this way the children have their own mother and father for life. Each child is permitted to live on campus until the age of 21. AKF-PMC are raising a half million dollars to buy land, to build houses and to create a safe haven for these orphans. Simultaneously, AKF-MPC has established businesses so that the orphan village is financially capable of giving these children a future . . . and other children just like them later on. To date we have a 400 broiler chicken farm, 316 layer chickens and two milk cows. They will produce an income around October 2010.

AKF wants utmost excellence in quality of child care—the best of the best for out kids. For this reason, AKF replicates the Watoto model. There are three primary styles of orphan care in Africa: |
|
1. leave the orphans within supportive families; |
|
THE WATOTO MODEL OF CHILD CARE PROMISES EXCELLENCE Kampala Pentecostal Church, under the pastoral management of Canadian pastors Gary and Marilyn Skinner, have developed the village model of child care and called it Watoto—the Kiswahili word for child. Clusters of eight houses, a school, church, administration and medical facilities form the village. Each house accommodates four boys and four girls of various ages, and one mama—herself a widow—a father figure comes in on weekends. In this way the children have their own mother and father for life. Each child is permitted to live on campus until the age of 21. The village model enables Watoto to better build leaders for Africa’s future better. The wholesale support of hundreds of orphans who often lack close parental care and attention, can be denied receiving a world class education and global consciousness. |

The Facts in 2009 (Drawn from Worldbank, World Vision, UNAIDS and UNICEF statistics) The facts about Africa are, in many ways, dreadful and overwhelming. Any change in consciousness to Africans has a huge impact on Africa and the world.
Growing orphaned Africans into a consciousness of global leadership does change things for the better. Moreover, it is a necessary part of the solution to decreasing the amount of orphans produced in Africa in future generations. |
